Subcontracting & Dropshipment

Two ways Wygwam fulfils orders without producing or stocking everything in-house.

Subcontracting

A subcontractor assembles or finishes products for Wygwam.

  • The product has a subcontracting BoM; the subcontractor is set as vendor.
  • A purchase order to the subcontractor triggers the flow.
  • Components are either bought and shipped to the subcontractor (resupply subcontractor route) or dropshipped by the component supplier straight to the subcontractor.
  • The finished product is received back into Wygwam stock, with optional quality inspection.

Dropshipment

For products Wygwam never stocks, the dropship route lets the supplier deliver directly to the end customer.

  • Confirming the sales order creates a purchase order to the supplier.
  • The dropship transfer confirms the delivery to the customer and drives invoicing.

When to use what

Stocked assortment ships from the warehouse; project-specific or bulky items are dropshipped; configured or assembled items go via subcontracting. The route is set per product, so order lines can mix all three in one order.
